Portsmouth
So I kidnapped and took Pieter to Portsmouth for the weekend for his birthday. It was actually really cool.
We stayed here at the Duke of Buckingham (a pub/ b&b) and it had divine food! I really love the pub culture in this country. In the States, you've mainly got bars which are not necessarily family friendly but pubs a lot of time have awesome food and welcome families before 9pm.
We visited the Spinneker Tower which is a main attraction for Portsmouth and then checked out the famous ships HMS Victory and HMS Warrior. Spinneker Tower boasts the largest glass floor in Europe. Sounds impressive, doesn't it? Well, here it is:
Yeah, that's it. BORING!
The HMS Warrior was the first ship to be made of metal rather than wood. Once all the testing came back that the metal ship worked just fine, every other ship in the world became instantly obsolete bcz it was lighter and faster in the water.
The HMS Victory was Lord Nelson's flagship in the Battle of Trafalgar and is the only ship still in existance that fought in the American War of Independence, the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars.
And us having fun around the harbor.
